Ways to Quit

Research and 15 years of delivering stop smoking services in the UK has shown us that we can maximise your chances of quitting for good by giving you the best support possible. All of our practitioners are specially trained and registered with the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT).

We will offer you either one-to-one (private and confidential consultations) or group support with one of our practitioners. The one-to-ones can take place face-to-face in a clinic or community setting like a village hall, or GP practice or can take place over the phone.

We will offer you weekly appointments for the first few weeks (this is the hardest time for quitting); and then either continue with the weekly appointments, or perhaps consider moving to fortnightly appointments until you reach 3 months without even a puff on a cigarette or other form of tobacco. As well as talking to you each week, we will also call or text you in between appointments to help you to stay on track – we have practitioners on call every weekday from 9am – 7pm as well as Saturday 10am – 2pm.

Stop Smoking Medication

We will also give you access to effective, licensed stop smoking medication, either Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) or a prescription only medication – your adviser will talk you through all of the choices and help you to come up with a plan). If you use NRT, we will usually provide you with ‘combination’ therapy – this is proven to work as well as the most effective of the two prescription medications – so that is normally a patch plus another form of NRT like gum, mouth spray or lozenge.

During our time together we will focus on planning your quit attempt, supporting you through implementing the quit attempt, and then making sure you are able to stay quit for good.
