Stop Smoking Medicines
We offer licensed medicines called Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) or a prescription only medication (NRT) products – patches, gum and lozenges – that help you manage cravings by replacing some of the nicotine you get from cigarettes without all the harmful elements, such as tar and carbon monoxide. Different types of stop smoking medicines work better for different people; so will work with you to find out the best for you. If you use NRT, we will usually provide you with ‘combination’ therapy; this is proven to work as well as the most effective of the two prescription medications; which is typically a patch plus another form of NRT like gum, mouth spray or lozenge.
Group or 1-2-1 Support
Group support with one of our practitioners takes place in a clinic, or community setting like a village hall, community centre or anywhere a group can meet to discuss. Your session will be with other people from your local area who are attempting to quit, and the group setting is ideal for talking with others about your experience, sharing hints and tips and having that extra support.
Telephone Support
We will call you on your prefered telephone number at an agreed time to suit you, and you will be offered weekly appointments for the first few weeks, as this is the hardest time when you start your quit attempt. As you go through your programme, you can move your appointment to fortnightly, if this suits you better. As well as talking to you each week, we will also call or text you in between meetings to help you to stay on track. You can call us free on 0800 622 6968 or Text 66777 if you have any questions at any point in your stop smoking programme.
